BRANSTON LODGE ACCESS STATEMENT

Introduction

Our objective at The Branston Lodge is to cater for the needs of all our guests in our eight bed-roomed guest accommodation in the South Shore area of Blackpool.  

The following statement is a summary of our provision.

Pre-Arrival

The Branston Lodge can be contacted by telephone, text, e-mail and via our website for online bookings.
Bus stops within 100 metres; frequent buses with ramped access travel into Blackpool, Cleveleys Lytham St. Annes and Fleetwood.
Tram and bus stops within 100 metres (limited access onto trams at present .) to Star Gate and Fleetwood.
Blackpool town centre and train station are ten minutes by car, taxi or bus and thirty minute walk.
Taxis with ramped access can be arranged with prior knowledge.

The pavement outside the Guesthouse is level and wide. Pavements in the surrounding shopping have had kerbs dropped for easier transfer from one side of the road to the other. The Promenade has level access to all areas including the beach which can be reached by extended ramps. We have contact details of a local mobility company who can supply a range of scooters wheelchairs etc.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

Our small private car park is located to the rear of the building approximately 100 metres from the entrance. Our front door is 43 inches wide and inner door 34 inches for easier access.

Guests are invited to come to the front of the guest house to unload their luggage before taking their car to the car park. If preferred we will park the car for you.

The route from the car park is flat and paved, well lit at night by street lamps. The pavement outside The Branston Lodge is flat and paved.

There is unrestricted car parking on the road in front of The Branston Lodge and a pay and display car park 100 metres away.
We are happy to assist guests with their luggage from their car or taxi into the entrance hall and rooms.
There is ramped access to the front of the property with a hand rail to the right hand side. The large front door is locked at all times, the push bell for which is located to the right of the entrance door at shoulder height.    

Main Entrance, Reception.

The extra wide main door opens inwards over the threshold into the level carpeted hallway. The ground floor entrance hall is large and light and is lit at all times by emergency lighting. There are two additional doors leading from the hallway. The guest lounge is accessed from the front right of the hall and has comfortable seating where registration takes place. The dining room is accessed to the back right of the lobby area,

Each door has clear signage.

Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc.

Room One is accessed directly from the lobby area, to the left of the entrance. It is a spacious twin  room  easily accommodating a wheelchair or mobility scooter. The room contains two single beds which can be moved for any space requirements, the beds themselves are 24 inches tall. It is brightly lit with a touch bedside table lamp.

Stairs to the other bedrooms are located at the front of the hall. There are 13 steps to a small landing. A further 4 steps leads to rooms 2 and 3 with a 90 degree right  turn to 7 additional steps onto the first landing where rooms 4,5,6 and 7 are located. A further 2 flights of stairs, leads to room 9. There is a hand rail on the right hand side of the stairs. The stairs are carpeted with a short pile carpet. The stairs are well lit at all times.
The first floor landing is large and lit at all times by maintained emergency lighting.
All bedrooms have inside opening doors

All bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms. The showers have a one step entrance with outward /sliding opening doors.
All double rooms have access to both sides of the bed.                                                                                                                                                         

Public Areas – Lounge and Dining Room

The guest lounge is located to the front of the ground floor hallway which has level access through an inwards opening glazed door. There is comfortable seating with s a TV with Freeview for the use of guests, which has teletext and a remote control.
The dining room is located to the right rear of the ground floor hallway with level access through a glazed door. The door is always fixed back when the dining room is in use. There are individual tables which can be moved on request. Wheelchair users can be seated in the lounge for easier access/comfort.

Additional Information

Guests are shown to their individual rooms, all facilities and emergency procedures are fully explained.
WiFi Internet access is available; televisions in all rooms have teletext subtitles and remote controls.

There are many chemists within walking distance and a NHS walk in Medical centre 3 miles away.

The Nearest General Hospital with A and E is 4 miles away all contact details are available.
The local Doctor’s surgery is 500 meters away.
